 PNEI is an influential government agency for national health policy formulation in hearing and balance health.
One of the most comprehensive diagnostic and research center for hearing loss in all age groups - infants to elderly patients.
With UP College of Medicine Department of Otolaryngology, its best trained surgeons and medical personnel provide a one-stop center for the provision of the highest quality care in state of the art cochlear implantation, middle ear autologous ossicular replacement and tympanoplasty (repair of tympanic membrane perforations), medical and surgical treatment of chronic ear infections and skull base surgery for acoustic neuroma and other tumors.
Envisioned to provide services that will outline the 3 levels of intervention: prevention, early treatment and curative, and rehabilitation.

LOGO AND ITS SIGNIFICANCE
The logo of the Philippine National Ear Institute is a Molluscan shell (specifically of the "Nautilus", Figure 1) that represents or is similar to the "cochlea" of the inner ear (Figure 2).

It also represents the shell as an instrument being used to literally gather sound from the outside, as one brings it close to his/her ear.

Figuratively, the shell is a circular structure that symbolizes the Institute's strive for continuity of human function, in this case, that of hearing and balance. The blue and yellow- colored circle (the color of the ocean) also signifies the Institute's national and global approach to the alleviation of hearing and balance impairment through research.
