Our Services

The environment at the PNEI is patient-friendly and accessible, and rates affordable. Over the last few years, diagnostic capabilities were enhanced and hearing aid provision as well as other services improved to cater to a wide array of ear patients. Presently, the following tests and services are now available at the PNEI:

Behavioral tests (Subjective):

• Pure tone audiometry
• Behavioral observation audiometry (for 0-6 month old children)
• Visual Reinforcement Orientation Audiometry (for 6 months to 3 year olds)
• Play Audiometry (for older children)
• Speech audiometry

Electrophysiologic (Objective) tests:

• Auditory Brainstem Response Testing
• Cortical Evoked Response (or late auditory response)
• Distortion product otoacoustic emissions
• Stapedial Reflex testing
• Videonystagmography
• Auditory Steady State Response
• Several objective tests for non-organic hearing loss
• Video Head Impulse Test

Hearing aid analysis:

• Hearing instrument analysis (or text box measurements)
• Real ear insertion response (or Probe Mic adjustments of hearing aid)

Other tests:

• Impedance audiometry (Tympanometry)

Electronystamography and Electrocochleography are in the process of being completed and hopefully will be functional by the end of 2007.

Speech and Language Evaluation and Therapy Services are provided in cooperation with UP College of Allied Medical Professions.

Cochlear Implant Program. The first and largest existing cochlear implant program in the country, with pioneering work in mapping cochlear implants in children with the use of electrically evoked stapedial reflex.

B.A.H.A. (Bone Anchored Hearing Aid). Intended for patients with congenital atresia (absent ear canal), chronically discharging ears, and to those who have a more active lifestyle.
